Install Crafting Apps on Linux: repositories, packages and preview status

Compare Flatpak OCI, APT, RPM, openSUSE and Arch repository options, unsigned-preview settings and standalone packages.

Based on ArtCraft documentation, not hands-on testing.

Choose a repository or a standalone download

The official Linux page (opens in a new tab / 新窗口打开) provides Flatpak OCI, Ubuntu / Debian, Fedora / RHEL, openSUSE and Arch Linux options. Repositories let a distribution's package manager handle updates. Use the standalone directory if you prefer not to add a software source. ArtCraft Studio is separate: Linux packages for the Crafting Apps do not establish a Linux studio installer.

Unsigned repository preview

Checked on November 2, 2026. The official page describes unsigned public-preview settings: APT uses [trusted=yes], and RPM / DNF uses gpgcheck=0. It says package managers compare package SHA-256 values with repository-index digests and downloads redirect to official GitHub Releases. This is different from verifying a signed repository index. Index signing is planned after official GPG public keys are published.

For an environment requiring signed repositories, use standalone packages for now or wait for the official signing instructions. The Wiki has not executed these commands or verified installation on each distribution.

The official Flatpak OCI example

The page lists x86_64 and aarch64. Check that Flatpak is installed and read the current official instructions (opens in a new tab / 新窗口打开) before using these quoted commands.

flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists artcraft-oci https://getartcraft.com/artcraft-oci.flatpakrepo
flatpak remote-ls artcraft-oci
flatpak install --user artcraft-oci ai.storyteller.artcraft-launcher ai.storyteller.pdfcraft

The page also links a single-app PdfCraft flatpakref (opens in a new tab / 新窗口打开). These are package-repository descriptors, not a hosted PDF editor.

Other distributions

| System | Official option | Check before use | | --- | --- | --- | | Ubuntu / Debian | APT | Current source URL, architecture and unsigned-preview settings | | Fedora / RHEL | RPM / DNF | Repository configuration, architecture and gpgcheck setting | | openSUSE | openSUSE tab | Supported version and current commands | | Arch Linux | Arch tab | Source, architecture and current signing instructions |

Select the appropriate tab on the official repository page (opens in a new tab / 新窗口打开) and copy its current commands for your distribution and architecture. Configuration is not interchangeable between package managers.

Portable packages and Launcher

AppImage and tar.gz are alternatives to package repositories. The download directory preserves exact builds, SHA-256 and check dates; additional Linux architectures and Arch packages appear in expandable sections. Launcher manages the apps in one place. Version 0.13.0 adds TextureCraft and a setting to hide community apps. Continue with CLI, JSON and MCP automation.
